Ferguson attacker jailed
A drunken man who attacked Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson outside a London railway station was jailed for 15 months on Thursday.
Homeless Kevin Reynolds, 44, was sentenced at London's Southwark Crown Court after kicking Ferguson in the groin at Euston station.
Ferguson responded to the attack by shouting "What the hell are you doing?” The beggar, whose criminal record boasts a total of 146 convictions, initially apologised, claiming he hadn't recognised the Scot, but he then held out his arms and shouted: "Fergie, Fergie, shut your mouth."
Ferguson admitted in a police statement he had been stunned by the assault.
"He really gave me a whack. At the time my natural instinct was to react and defend myself," Ferguson said.
"However, I decided against it as I did not know if he was carrying any weapon and might come at me again."
