Pabna AL, Jubo League feud over tender
Activists of a faction of Awami League (AL) and its youth wing Jubo League Friday night ransacked 'Pabna Paradise,' the largest sweet shop owned by the joint secretary of Pabna district unit of the party.
A case has been filed against nine local leaders on the same night.
Nurul Amin Sohel, younger brother of shopowner Abu Ishhaque Shamim filed the case accusing Belayet Ali Billu, joint secretary of the district unit AL, Ragib Hassan Tipu, secretary of district unit Jubo League, Md Sharif, organising secretary of Jubo League, Mostaq Azad, secretary of Pabna BCL, Abdul Aziz, former VP of Pabna Bulbul College and activists Roni, Badsha, Nazim and Gama.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Pabna Police Station said they are trying to nab the accused.
Sources said the attack followed a feud between two factions of Jubo League over a tender issue. A faction of Jubo League workers allegedly supported by the president of district unit on Wednesday snatched tender documents from the rival activists backed allegedly by secretary of Jubo League.
The incident occurred on the Pabna Deputy Commissioner's office premises. Two separate cases were filed against a group of activists on the day.
Since then the two rival factions chased each other everyday triggering tension in the district town.
