Timber seized, two held in Comilla

Forest guards yesterday morning recovered about 300 square feet teak timber worth Tk 6 lakh from a truck and arrested its driver and helper from Changini area in Sadar Dakkshin upazila on Dhaka-Chittagong highway.
The arrestees are truck driver Alim Sikder,35 of Bhanga upazila in Faridpur district and helper Md Shohel Sheikh,25, of Nolia upazila in Jamalpur district.
Forest official of the local camp Abdul Manan Miazee led the team of forest personnel.
However, sensing presence of the forest team, the smugglers fled away from the truck.
Later, a case was lodged with Sadar Dakkshin Police Station.
