Dhaka bags $4 lakh spot orders from Madrid fair
Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) received spot orders of US$ 3,85,000 at the Madrid International Fashion Fair held in the Spanish capital from February 12 to 14.
Bangladesh for the first time participated in an specialised fair on the RMG fashion products. The fair is one of the three leading trade fairs in the European countries, according to an EPB press release.
Out of the 13 Bangladeshi participating companies, Rincu Garments Limited received four spot orders amounting to US$ 1,35,000 for supply of T-shirts to a Spanish buyer, while Jinnat Fashions Limited got spot orders of US$ 2,50,000 for supply of knit garments to an EU buyer.
Several other Bangladeshi companies received prospective orders for supply of Sweaters & T-shirts. It is expected that the SIMM fair will open new avenues for the Bangladeshi companies to increase their exports to Spain and other EU markets.
Around 13 RMG companies from Bangladesh exposed their high quality export products, preferably knit items, to the buyers. Other products put on display in the Bangladeshi stalls were T-shirt, sweaters, cardigans, polo-shirt, pullover and child garments.
France was the guest country for the current edition of the fair. As many as 467 manufacturers, distributors, exporters, trade bodies and promotional organisations from 35 countries, including Bangladesh and Spain, participated in the fair.
The participating companies presented their new clothing and accessories lines, which have been designed for the next Autumn-Winter, 2009-2010.
