City United Club beat Zirabo SC by two goals to nil in the Citycell 3rd Division Football League at the Bir Shreshtha Shaheed Sepoy Mohammad Mostafa Stadium at Kamalapur yesterday.
Jakir scored both the goals for the winners.
In another match, Lalbagh SC split points with PWD SC to a 1-1 draw at the same venue.
Rubel scored for Lalbagh while Abdul Kader netted for PWD.
INT'L TENNIS
Mufazzal Hossain of Bangladesh reached the boys singles 2nd round of the Dhaka Bank 23rd Bangladesh International Junior Tennis Championships beating Jao Chi Shih of Chinese Taipei 6-3, 4-6, 6-4 at the Ramna National Tennis Complex. The game at Court no. 5 lasted an exciting 1.5 hours in which the local hero beat his opponent 6-3, 4-6, 6-4 to qualify for the next round.
In the 2nd round, Mufazzal will meet top seed Sumit Sindee of India. 16 boys singles matches and 10 girls singles games were played yesterday.
A total of 107 boys and 52 girls from 16 countries are taking part in the meet.
SCHOOL CRICKET
Gulshan Model High School beat Bangladesh International School by a massive 202 runs in the Standard Chartered Young Tigers U-16 National Cricket Tournament at the Gulshan Youth Ground. Batting first Gulshan School posted a mammoth 380-9 in 50 overs. BIS were then bowled out for 178 in 39.2 overs.
Pabna Zilla School ambled home against Tapobon High School by nine wickets in the Pabna Stadium. Tapobon were all out for 73 which was chased down in the 14th over by Pabna for the loss of one wicket.
