Servility is Congress culture, says Amar Singh
It's still not clear which way the Congress-Samajwadi Party alliance is headed.
Samajwadi Party General Secretary Amar Singh says that his party's relations with the Congress is very bad, but has also added that he won't break relations till the point Sonia Gandhi asks him to leave.
He also says that he has no problems with Sonia and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, but other senior leaders in the Congress have made the Samajwadi Party feel unwanted.
"I don't have any strain in my relationship... though it is very formal and not a very close relationship, but a very beautiful and formal relationship so far as Mrs Sonia Gandhi is concerned, and I share a very warm rapport with Dr Manmohan Singh," Amar Singh said on CNN-IBN's Devil's Advocate.
Karan Thapar: What about the Congress party?
Amar Singh: I don't think I have a great relationship left with Congress party as of now
Karan Thapar: So is your relationship approaching breaking point?
Amar Singh: No, simply because of 1 reason that I don't want people of this country and my supporters to feel that I am a political weathercock. I have given a public declaration that I will be with Congress. So as long as Soniaji does not tell me to get out of her place, as has happened in the past, I am not going to leave them.
Karan Thapar: But you are also saying that apart from your relationship with Sonia Gandhi and Dr Manmohan Singh, Congress makes you feel unwanted?
Amar Singh: Absolutely unwanted, untouchable and they feel uncomfortable, because my spinal cord is very strong and the culture of Congress is that of servility.
