Govt starts implementing election manifesto
State Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Advocate M Quamrul Islam yesterday said the government started working to implement its election manifesto to fulfill the expectations of the people.
Addressing as the chief guest at a prize giving ceremony of Vakurta Union High School in Savar, Quamrul said efforts will be on to materialise the election pledges for the benefit of the people.
With president of the school managing committee M Shahjahan in the chair, the function was addressed, among others, by Savar Upazila parishad Chairman M Feroz Kabir, UNO Rabbi Mia, school managing committee member M Abdur Rashid and principal of the school Molla Nazrul Islam.
The state minister said the past government had politicised the educational institutions but the present government is pledged-bound to keep the educational institutions above politics, an official handout said.
Quamrul suggested selecting honest and capable persons as managing committee members in educational institutions to help build a knowledge-based society.
He said a huge amount of money had been plundered during the previous government in the name of development activities. He emphatically said that the present administration would not allow such act of looting.
