Maintain neutrality in revealing truths
Most of the newspapers are striving to save their registration while some others are compromising for collecting advertisements, said former chief election commissioner Justice Abdur Rouf at a discussion marking the 30th founding anniversary of 'North Bengal Express', a weekly newspaper, at the National Press Club yesterday.
He urged the journalists to maintain impartial stand to reveal truths.
The newspaper also honoured 25 personalities with 'Hussain Shaheed Suhrawardy Award-2009' for contribution to different sectors in the country.
Justice Rouf addressed the discussion as the chief guest and handed over awards to the recipients.
Defying poverty, extra pressure of duty, and unfavourable work environment, journalists are unearthing truths. But how long they could do it if to satisfy the owners.
ASM Bari, editor of the North Bengal Express, presided over the ceremony.
