Five killed in road accidents
Five people were killed in separate road accidents in Habiganj and Bogra in last two days.
UNB from Habiganj adds: Two people were killed and three others injured in a road accident at Mirpur in Bahubal upazila on Dhaka-Sylhet highway yesterday.
The deceased were identified as Nuruzzaman, 29, and Laskar Mia, 45.
Police said the accident took place as a bus rammed into a private car, which was coming from opposite direction, leaving two people dead on the spot and injuring three others at about 1:45pm. All the victims are private car passengers.
The injured were admitted to Sadar Hospital and later shifted to Dhaka as their condition deteriorated.
Angered by the accident, local people caught the bus and put up barricade on Dhaka-Sylhet highway, that halted traffic movement on the highway for an hour.
Staff correspondent form Bogra adds: One teacher and two female students were killed as the picnic bus of Syed Ahmed College at Sonatola in Bogra plunged into a ditch while returning from picnic on Monday night.
The victims are Mahidul Islam, teacher of the college, and students Lovely and Munni.
Police said the bus fell into a ditch when driver of the bus lost control over the steering wheel.
