Fifth training course on public procurement begins

As part of institutionalising capacity development under the Public Procurement Reform Project-II, the fifth three-week training course on public procurement of goods, works and services organised by the Central Procurement Technical Unit (CPTU), IMED of the Ministry of Planning, began at the Engineering Staff College Bangladesh (ESCB) at Bausia in Munshiganj district on Sunday, according to a press release.
Amulya Kumar Debnath, CPTA director general, ARM Anwar Hossain, dean of the Faculty of Procurement and Supplies, ESCB, Liam Heavin, team leader, and Khaja G Ahmed, deputy team leader, were present at the inaugural session.
Earlier four such courses were organised at the ESCB where officials from different procuring entities of the government were trained on different aspects of public procurement.
The fourth three-week training course ended on February 5. The fifth three-week training, which will conclude on February 26, is the part of 108 such courses to be held in next three years.
The Local Government Engineering Department (LGED), Roads and Highways Department (RHD), Bangladesh Water Development Board (BWDB) and Rural Electrification Board (REB) are the four target agencies under this reform project.
