Ainapur High School clinches title
Ainapur High School at Jhenaigati upazila in Sherpur clinched championship title in the final round of the Brac inter-school debate competition yesterday.
Mohishbathan High School under Mohadevpur upazila in Naogaon became runner-up in the topic 'Reading textbooks is enough for progress of the students'.
Suraiya Kausar Kajoli of the champion team was adjudged the best debater in the final round of the contest.
Novelist Selina Hossain formally inaugurated the competition organised by Brac Education Programme at Teachers' Training College auditorium in the city. Brac Executive Director Dr Mahbub Hossain presided over the programme.
Education Secretary Syed Ataur Rahman was present as the chief guest at the programme, while Director General of the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Prof Khan Md Habibur Rahman and Director of Brac Education Programme Dr Shafiqul Islam were present as the special guests.
Dr ASM Atiqur Rahman of Dhaka University moderated the debate, while Father Adam of Notre Dame College, Rokeya Begum of Holy Cross Girls' High School and Sharmin Rahman of Rajuk Uttara Model High School and College acted as a panel of judges.
A total of 443 private secondary schools from across the country participated in the competition.
