Road crashes kill 6
Six people were killed in separate road accidents in Naogaon, Netrakona and Benapole yesterday.
Our RU Correspondent reports: Two day-labourers were killed and two others injured in a road accident on Naogaon-Patnitola highway at Shibrampur at Mahadevpur in Naogaon yesterday.
The dead were identified as Abdul Majid, 40, and Yasin Ali, 30, while the injured were Shahidul Islam, 28, and Ansar, 22.
The accident occurred when a speeding Naogaon-bound truck and a Mahadevpur-bound human hauler collided head-on.
The injured were rushed to Mahadevpur Health Complex.
Our correspondent in Netrakona adds: Two coal labourers were killed and another injured in a road accident on Durgapur-Kalmakanda highway at Makrail at Durgapur in the district yesterday.
Sources said at about 6:00am a coal-laden truck lost control and fell into a roadside ditch, killing two coal labourers on the spot.
The dead were identified as Samidur Rahman, 22, and Siddiqur Rahman, 40.
Seriously injured Khalilur Rahman, 50, was rushed to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital.
Sources said the coal labourers were sitting on the roof of the truck.
A correspondent in Benapole adds: Akram Hossain, 40, a security guard of Benapole Port, was crushed under the wheels of an Indian truck yesterday.
Police said an Indian truck crushed the on duty guard while coming out of a gate after unloading goods.
Police have arrested Kitab Ali Mondal, the driver of the Indian truck.
Meanwhile, a motorcyclist was killed in a road accident at Sharsha yesterday.
The victim was identified as Aziz Ahmed Manik, 50, Sharsha upazila PDP convener and a C&F agent.
The accident occurred when a Benapole-bound trolley hit the motorcycle while he was returning to his Navaron residence from Benapole.
