Public health edn at pvt universities to continue
Newly appointed Director General of Health Services Prof Shah Monir Hossain vowed to patronise the non-government initiatives in order to continue public health education at private universities, says a press release.
“It is not only the concern of the government, but also of the private entrepreneurs,” he said, adding that private initiatives in the health education will be one step ahead in the field of medical science.
He said this as the chief guest at the orientation ceremony of the students of Master of Public Health (MPH) at Northern University Bangladesh (NUB) at Dhanmondi campus in the city on Friday.
Terming the MPH degree a special one for the MBBS degree holders, the new DG said he would patronise the MPH programmes at the private universities.
Welcomed the new DG, NUB Vice Chancellor Prof M Shamsul Haque said Shah Monir is one of the pioneers in decentralisation of health sector in the country.
Former director of Health System Development (WHO/SEARO) Dr Sultana Khanam, Adviser to the department of Public Health at NUB Dr GU Ahsan, Director (HRD) Md Lutfor Rahman and Head of MPH programme Dr Shahanaz Chowdhury also spoke.
