Consumers' Rights

Approve Ordn of 2008

Rajshahi Cab urges PM

The Rajshahi unit of Consumers Association of Bangladesh (Cab), in a letter to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina yesterday, urged her to take initiative to approve the Consumer Rights Protection Ordinance 2008.
A copy of the letter signed by Rajshahi Cab President Kazi Gias and General Secretary Golam Mostafa Mamun was also sent to the commerce minister.
The letter said an implementation of the consumer rights protection act will play an important role in resisting the price spiraling of essentials, and curbing the sale of adulterated food and medicine.
The caretaker government passed the ordinance as it had been hanging on the balance for over one and a half decade.
The letter also hoped that if the ordinance is passed by the Jatiya Sangsad, all sections of people will be benefited.
