Dr Omar wins Teaching Excellence Award
Dr Ikhtyar Omar, associate chair in Chemical Engineering and Petroleum Engineering Technology Programs at Northern Alberta Institute of Technology (NAIT), Canada, has received a Teaching Excellence Award from National Institute for Staff and Organisational Development (NISOD), says a press release.
NISOD is based at the University of Texas and has 700 members all over North America, which includes community colleges and universities, mostly in the United States.
Dr Omar, a former professor and head of Chemical Engineering at Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (Buet), also received the Instructional Excellence Award from NAIT for his outstanding contribution towards the successes of his students.
As a NISOD Excellence Award winner, Dr Omar will receive a Medallion and an Excellence Award Certificate at the International Conference on Teaching and Leadership Excellence to be held in Austin, Texas, on May 24-27.
Dr Omar, also an adjunct professor at the University of Regina in Saskatchewan, Canada, was nominated for this award by NAIT.
