4 charge-sheeted in Khagrachhari for grabbing 20 acre land

At long last police yesterday submitted charge sheet to the District and Sessions Judge's Court accusing four people of grabbing about 20 acres of land of indigenous people at Ganjapara in Khagrachhari Sadar upazila.
The charge-sheeted accused are Mohammad Aminul Hoque of Mohazonpara Narikel Bagun under Sadar upazila in Khagrachhari, his elder son Shahidul Islam and court writers Mohammad Nur Hossen and Mohammad Mujibur Rahman.
The last two persons helped prime accused Aminul Hoque and his son to grab lands of indigenous people through preparing false documents, accordi ng to Investigation Officer Mohammad Iqbal Hossen.
Despite request from the then Golabari Union Parishad chairman Chailapru Marma, police on August 8 last year declined to accept the land grabbing case.
On March 2 this year, The Daily Star ran a report titled '20 acres land of tribesmen grabbed in Khagrachhari' and police on April 2 took the case.
On August 11 last year, a judicial magistrate sent the 'documents' prepared by Aminul Hoque and his aides to the Criminal Investigation Department for investigation and the probe report sent to Khagrachhari police on November 26 said the documents were made by using false signatures.
Mohammad Aminul Hoque grabbed at least 20 acres land of Chaindi Aung Marma 61, Anil Chakma, Satho Aung Marma, Neeaung Marma and Lali Marma of Ganjapara village while Khagrachhari Municipality Mayor Joynal Abedin helped the grabber, former Golabari UP chairman Chailapru Marma said.
Joynal Abedin, also the acting secretary of district BNP and an advisor of Parbatya Chattagram Samo Adhiker Andolon (PCSAA), on different occasions patronised the Bangali settlers to grab lands of indigenous people, said several victims of land grabbing.
