Keeping Mro in chains condemned
Different organisations yesterday condemned keeping Ranglai Mro, an indigenous community leader who fell seriously ill in Chittagong Central Jail, in chains even in the hospital.
Terming the act inhuman, they demanded removing the chains from his legs.
In the statement, Bangladesh Adivasi Odhikar Andolan General Secretary Mesbah Kamal said most of the corrupt people arrested by the caretaker government were freed on bail, but Ranglai did not get the bail although he wasn't guilty.
He urged the newly elected government to release the indigenous leader.
In a separate statement, Nagorik Uddyog also demanded his release and proper environment for treatment.
