Four killed in road accidents
Four people were killed and another injured in separate road accidents in Nilphamari, Brahmanbaria and Brahmanbaria in the last two days.
Our correspondent in Nilphamari reports: Two minor boys were killed and their father injured in a road accident in the district yesterday.
The dead were identified as Rafid, 8, and Raat, 4, and the injured was Mezbah Ul Islam, an employee of the Dinajpur Police Superintendent's office.
They were going to Nilphamari from Dinajpur on a motorcycle to attend the namaz-e-janaza of Fazlur Rahman, district correspondent of the daily Ittefaq and president of Nilphamari Press Club, who was Mezbah's cousin.
Fazlur had passed away at a hospital in Kolkata on December 29.
The accident took place when the motorcycle and a minibus collided head-on at about 10:30am at Fultala on Nilphamari-Saidpur highway.
Our correspondent in Brahmanbaria adds: A man was killed in a road accident on Dhaka-Sylhet highway at Bariura village at Sarail in the district on Tuesday night.
The dead was identified as Md Abdur Rahman, 50.
Our correspondent in Thakurgaon adds: An elderly man was killed in a road accident on Thakurgaon-Nargun road at Bochapukur village in Thakurgaon Sadar on Tuesday evening.
The victim was identified as Posir Uddin, 80.
The accident occurred when a motorcycle coming from the opposite direction hit him, leaving him seriously injured.
He succumbed to his injuries on his way to Thakurgaon Sadar Hospital.
