In continuation of their regular monthly programme -- on the last Saturday of every month -- cultural organisation 'Srijon' arranged a musical soiree featuring songs of yesteryears, on December 27.
The programme was held at Poet Sufia Kamal Auditorium, National Museum. Titled “Bijoy Ullash,” the programme was the 77th arrangement by the organisation.
Apart from Rabindra and Nazrul Sangeet, artistes also performed songs of Swadhin Bangla Betar Kendra and more.
The event started with a rendition of Swadhin Bangla Betar Kendra songs -- “Rokto diye naam likhechhi” and “Mora ekti phoolkey bachabo boley” -- by Rafiqul Alam Selim. Sheikh Ruhul Amin performed “Chander kalonko achhey boley”. Nusrat Jahan Runa sang an old film classic “Kichhu apni shonan” and “Tomar angina thekey”. Zakir Hossein sang -- “Jarey jabi jodi ja”.
Badrunnesa Dalia rendered “Moner rangey rangabo” and the SD Burman classic “Tumi esheychhiley porshu”. Sanjida Titli performed “Aj noy gungun” and a patriotic song “Ek nodi rokto periye”.
Noted Nazrul artiste Kalpana Anam also performed at the programme.
Renowned music composer Shujeo Shyam was the chief guest at the programme.
