Elect honest men for effective JS
Dr Kamal Hossain yesterday called upon people to cast their votes for honest and competent candidates in the December 29 national election for constituting an effective parliament that would work for healthy democracy in the country.
"People are now looking for a corruption-free society, an active parliament and rule of law. So, all have to exercise their voting right judiciously. A wrong decision once again would be disastrous," he said.
The eminent jurist was addressing the last election rally of Jatiya Jukta Front, an electoral alliance comprising Gono Forum led by him, Bikapadhara Bangladesh led by former president AQM Badruddoza Chowdhury and three other parties, at Karwan Bazar in the capital.
Dr Kamal said the main objectives of Jatiya Jukta Front are empowerment of people and establishment of healthy politics. Its election manifesto assured people of establishing an education system of international standard, he added.
The Front leader stressed bringing an end to ill politics for materialising people's dream for a better future.
He criticised the previous government for massive corruption.
Another Front leader, Maj (Retd) MA Mannan, who is a candidate for Dhaka-11 constituency that includes Karwan Bazar, said they are committed to bringing all possible reforms in politics.
Badruddoza Chowdhury , Mahi B Chowdhury and some Front nominees for different constituencies in the city also addressed the rally.
