Hand over power after UZ elections

Leaders of Forum of Possible Upazila Parishad Chairmen and Vice Chairmen yesterday called on the government to hand over power to an elected government after holding the upazila polls on January 22, says a press release.
They feared that the political parties which would be elected on December 29 might not eager to hold upazila elections.
Member Secretary of the forum M Humayun Kabir said, “The previous records of the parties about holding upazila elections are not satisfactory. The leaders do not want to hold the polls for their political interests.”
He further said that the government should hand over the power to an elected government after the upazila polls for strengthening the local government bodies.
