'A Health Worker's Diary' launched
The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare launched 'A Health Worker's Diary' yesterday to have concrete databased field level information on health, mortality and morbidity.
Secretary to the ministry AMM Nasiruddin unveiled the diary designed for the union and ward level field workers where they will keep records of the number of pregnant women, deliveries and newborns of their working area.
The number of maternal and child death, number of deaths of different age group people and the information of morbidity due to different diseases of their working areas would also be included in the diary which will be checked by the upazila health and family welfare officer once in a month.
The 130-page diary also contains basic information on country's health infrastructure, basic country profile, Millennium Development Goals and other health indicators, health manpower and institutional profiles.
At the inaugural session at Sasakawa auditorium of ICDDR,B Anwarul Islam Khan of Bureau of Health Education said that the diary would work as an important database of country's health issues, morbidity and mortality. It will also be a good reference for research work.
Director General of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) Prof M Abul Faiz presided over the session while Additional Secretary to health ministry Abul Kalam Azad and Director of MIS of DGHS Prof Mohammad Abul Kalam Azad also spoke.
