9 bombs recovered in Khulna
Police recovered nine live hand bombs from a bamboo yard at Katenga village at Dumuria in the district on Monday night.
Experts diffused the recovered bombs at Dumuria Police Station yesterday.
Recovery of the bombs has created panic among the people in the area with only six days remaining before the parliamentary elections.
Katenga is under Khulna-5 constituency where Jamaat has a stronghold.
City Ameer of Jamaat Mian Golam Parwar is contesting from this constituency for the second time as a candidate of four-party alliance.
He also won this seat in 2001 national elections defeating AL rival Narayan Chandra Chanda allegedly with the support of underground parties.
Chanda is Parwar's main rival in the upcoming elections, too.
Recent recovery of provocative brochures, audio cassettes and CDs sent to him from Dhaka by courier service has also put his political credibility into question and threatens peaceful holding of elections in the constituency.
