2 executed in Barisal jail

Two people, who received death sentence by separate courts of Dhaka and Jhalakati, were executed in Barisal Central Jail on Saturday late night.
Hafizur Rahman Mintu, 42, son of Dr Shahjahan of Kathpatti Road in Barisal city, was accused of triple murders, including his wife and two minor sons, and Kabir Hossain, 41, son of late Montaz Khan of Keuta village under Rajapur upazila of Jhalakati, was accused of murdering his first wife.
Senior Jail Super Golam Haider told The Daily Star that Civil Surgeon Dr Pulin Kumar Singha, Magistrate ATM Mahbub Ul Karim and Jailer Mokhlesur Rahman were present during their execution.
The bodies were handed over to their relatives yesterday morning, he added.
