2 to die for killing minor boy in Ctg

Chittagong Divisional Speedy Trial Tribunal yesterday sentenced two people to death for killing a minor boy while committing a robbery in the port city in 2007.
Tribunal Judge Mohammad Shafiqul Karim handed down the verdict to Kamrul Hasan and Monir Hossain hailing from Kutumpur area under Chandina upazila in Comilla district.
Both the convicts were in jail custody.
According to prosecution, the convicts slaughtered Sohel Rana, an eight- year-old boy as he witnessed them looting Tk 18 lakh from the residence of a cattle trader Ali Ahmed at Dulalabad area in Pahartali area on November 27.
Public Prosecutor Kamrul Islam Sajjad said the convicts, who were closely related to Ali Ahmad, slaughtered the boy as he recognised them.
Police submitted the charge sheet accusing the two on February 24, 2008.
The court pronounced the verdict after hearing 17 witnesses.
