CA to go on vacation on completion of his tenure
With the end of the caretaker government's mission now in sight, Chief Adviser Fakhruddin Ahmed yesterday said he would go on a vacation on completion of his responsibilities as the head of the caretaker government.
"Right now, I have no specific plan… I would like to go on a vacation for the time being," he told reporters at a get-together at his office in reply to a question about his plans after the completion of his present job.
At present, the key objective is to hold a free, fair and acceptable election peacefully to transfer power to an elected government, he added.
The chief adviser, whose interim regime carried out an anti-graft drive and large-scale reforms, however, said that if any opportunity comes in the future, he would make a good use of it.
He mentioned that he has properly utilised the opportunity as the chief adviser by applying his conscience, wisdom and judgment for the welfare of the country and people.
Journalists from the print and electronic media, particularly those who cover the CA's programmes and events, attended the tea party at the International Conference Centre (ICC) on the CA's office complex at the invitation of the chief adviser.
Fakhruddin Ahmed shared his experiences and views with them.
Briefly speaking on the occasion, the CA appreciated efficiency and professionalism of the journalists who covered his and the government's programmes at home and aboard.
He said the government, particularly he himself, benefited from the objective reporting by the journalists as people's opinions were reflected in their writing.
"Journalists act as the bridge between the government and the people," he said and hoped that this role would continue.
CA's Press Secretary Syed Fahim Munaim was present at the event.
