Victory Day Observed In Districts

'Try war criminals'

The country observed the Victory Day yesterday with a call to try the war criminals and their collaborators.
Speakers at different programmes also urged countrymen not to cast their vote for the war criminals in the upcoming elections.
Our RU Correspondent adds: Rajshahi City Corporation Mayor AHM Khairuzzaman Liton, Bangladesh Awami League, Bangladesh Chhatra League, Workers' Party, Metropolitan Press Club, Photojournalists' Association, Muktijoddha Mancha, Muktijoddha Pathagar, Sachetan Nagorik Committee, Rajshahi College Teachers' Association and Borendra Rotaract Club placed wreaths at Bhuban Mohan Park Central Shaheed Minar.
RU acting Vice Chancellor (VC) Prof Mamnunul Keramat, Rajshahi University Teachers' Association (Ruta), Progressive Teachers' Society (PTS), student organisations, cultural organisations and hall authorities also placed wreathes at RU Shaheed Minar.
Shaheed Smrity Sangrahashala organised an art competition and music contest on the occasion.
Our correspondent in Barisal adds: Barisal Sangskritik Sangathan Samannaya Parishad organised a three-day programme at the Central Shaheed Minar.
Different programmes were also held at the local Killing Field.
The district Muktijoddha Sangsad accorded a reception to the freedom fighters and the family members of the martyrs on the Muktijoddha Smrity Falak premises on this occasion.
Our correspondent in Pabna adds: Pabna district administration, Pabna Press Club, Pabna Bar Council, different cultural organisations, NGOs and political parties placed wreaths at the alter of the Durjoy Pabna, a liberation war memorial.
Our correspondent in Jhenidah adds: Different programmes were also held in the town to mark the Victory Day.
