ISA protests denial of registration
Leaders and activists of Islami Shashontantra Andolan (ISA) yesterday demonstrated in front of Baitul Mukarram Mosque protesting denial of registration to the party by the Election Commission (EC).
Around a thousand of ISA activists gathered at the north gate of the National Mosque around 3:30pm and blocked the road from Purana Paltan to Dainik Bangla crossing for two hours creating a long traffic jam in the surrounding areas.
The Islamic party will submit memorandums to all deputy commissioners' offices across the country tomorrow and will lay siege to the EC on Thursday.
Speaking at a rally, the leaders of the party threatened to paralyse the country demanding resignation of the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC).
Ameer of ISA Syed Rezaul Karim alleged that the CEC illogically denied them registration.
ISA leader Nurul Huda Faiji threatened to paralyse the country if the party is not given registration by the EC.
The EC did not register ISA and told them to change the name of the party as it contradicts the country's constitution.
