Nrityashoilee celebrates 2nd anniversary

Nrityashoilee, Sylhet, an organisation of dancers arranged a programme on the occasion of its second anniversary at the M. Saifur Rahman auditorium in Sylhet city last Saturday.
Sylhet City Corporation Mayor Badaruddin Ahmed Kamran formally inaugurated the event. 'Kathak' guru Shaju Ahmed; eminent dancer and Nritya-nandan's director Sharmila Banerjee; Nrityashoilee's director Nilanjana Das Jui and Bangladesh Nritya Shilpi Sangstha's Sylhet unit Chief Anil Kishon Sinha attended the programme as special guests. Amirul Islam Babu, adviser, Nrityashoilee, chaired the discussion prior to the dance performances.
The chief guest in his speech said that dance is an integral component of culture. Evidence of the art form from the dawn of human civilisation is prevalent. Manipuri dance has added a different dimension to the culture of the north-eastern part of our country.
A one-minute silence was also observed at the programme to honour the late dance guru Sri Hari Das. Artistes of Nrityashoilee, and from Dhaka and Khulna performed at the programme. Among the artistes who performed were Nilanjana Das Jnui, Bipul, Subarna, Sima, Swarna, Asif , Mehnaz, Chandrima, Drishti, Durjoy, Manna, Abir, Rumpa, Shyama, Manisha and Sharmila Bandopadhyay.
