Election under emergency can't be fair
BNP Secretary General Khandaker Delwar Hossain yesterday said election under the state of emergency cannot be free and fair.
He was speaking as chief guest at an extended meeting of Ghior upazila BNP at DN Pilot High School auditorium in the evening.
Ghior upazila BNP President Khandaker Nazrul Islam Pannu presided over the meeting which was also addressed by BNP leaders Advocate Jamilur Rashid Khan, Advocate Mokhsedur Rahman, Advocate Azad Hossain Khan, Ataur Rahman Ata, Abul Hashem Biswas, Advocate Bozlul Haque, Jubo Dal leaders Motaleb Hossain, Meer Manikuzzaman and Abu Kaiser Jinnah.
Delwar said BNP is an election-oriented party and it wants an election which will be fair and neutral.
He said if the election is held under the state of emergency, its result can be influenced.
Delwar said the incident of January 11 was a conspiracy to damage the BNP and make Bangladesh a dependent state.
He said the caretaker government took the power to hold a free and fair election but it is now doing irrelevant work.
