Housewife injured in attack by in-laws

The wife of a senior assistant secretary was admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) yesterday with serious head injuries after her in-laws allegedly attacked her at their Rampura residence in the city.
The victim, Tahmina Akter, wife of Joynal Abedin, a senior assistant secretary at the education ministry, alleged that two brothers of her husband and their sons tried to drive her away from the residence in the afternoon and also injured her with a drill.
Tahmina said she got married with Joynal Abedin seven months ago and this was his second marriage. "But he now wants to marry again. So, his family members were trying to drive her away from the residence," she added.
When contacted, Joynal Abedin refuted the allegations and said he divorced Tahmina last month and he has been staying out about one and a half months.
He also said Tahmina intentionally injured herself to file a false case against him and his family members.
