PSV ejected from Dutch Cup
PSV Eindhoven have been kicked out of the Dutch Cup for lining out with a banned player during Wednesday's match against Jong Heerenveen, the ANP news agency reported.
Portuguese player Manuel da Costa was suspended and should not have been playing.
The Dutch national football federation (KNVB) ruled on Thursday that PSV's 3-0 win was invalid, meaning that their rivals advance to the next round.
PSV director Jan Reker admitted "an enormous blunder" and expressed his dismay at their exclusion from "a tournament which we would like to win".
PSV won a third straight league title last season, but have not won the Cup since 2005.
