Security beefed up at Indian High Commission
Security has been strengthened in and around the Indian High Commission in Dhaka after it received a fax message yesterday in Jama'atul Mujahideen Bangladesh's (JMB) name that threatened to blow up the commission, police said.
The fax sent from Chapainawabganj to the Indian High Commission on a JMB pad reads if the commission refuses to pay extortion money to the banned militant outfit, it will blow up the commission, said a top official at the police headquarters wishing anonymity.
The police headquarters yesterday asked police and Rab in Rajshahi to find out the sender of the fax, he added.
However, an official of the Indian High Commission said he was unaware of the matter.
JMB sent faxes to police headquarters and Rab offices twice from Chapainawabganj in the last one week threatening to carry out attack on the law enforcers if their arrested leaders are not released.
