Lawyer jailed for cheating

The Chief Judicial Magistrate Court here sentenced a lawyer to one year imprisonment in a cheating case.
Convicted lawyer Advocate Golzar Hossain, also a member of the District Lawyers Association, was also fined Tk 10,000.
Prosecution story, in brief, is that Golzar borrowed Tk 1.15 lakh from Abdul Latif of Ullapara in 2000 promising to hand over ownership of a piece of land to him for failure to repay the money to him on scheduled time. He also signed a bond (agreement) to this effect.
But, after a few days, Golzar denied the agreement through his musclemen. Following the incident, Latif lodged a cheating case with the court against him.
