CNG-run bus catches fire
A CNG-run bus caught fire after its gas cylinder exploded near the capital's Mohakhali Police Box yesterday, police said.
There was no report of any casualty.
Police said the gas cylinder of the New Market-bound bus from Uttara exploded near Mohakhali Police Box at about 11:00 am. Nobody was hurt as all the passengers managed to get down before it caught fire.
Fire fighters from Tejgaon rushed to the spot and extinguished the flame.
Police said defects in the gas cylinder might have caused the explosion. But the fire fighters cited technical glitch in the engine as the reason of the explosion.
The driver and the helper fled the scene soon after the incident.
