Banks asked to provide info on ex-minister Azad, 15 others

The National Board of Revenue (NBR) yesterday asked all commercial banks to provide account information of 16 people including former state minister Lutfar Rahman Khan Azad, former power secretary Toufiq-e-Elahi Chowdhury and former FDC managing director Mohammad Musa.
The other 13 are family members of the three persons.
Banking sources said the NBR's Central Intelligence Cell yesterday served notice on the banks to provide their account information within next 10 days.
It sought detailed information on transactions made through personal accounts, joint accounts, current accounts, savings accounts, foreign currency accounts, credit accounts and credit cards.
The NBR served the notice according to the Income Tax Ordinance 1984.
