WFP invites entries

The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) yesterday announced the “WFP Media Awards 2008” for excellence in food security and hunger related reporting in Bangladesh.
A total of six individual media awards will be given. Individual category winners will receive a cash prize and a certificate.
Investigative and analytical reports published or broadcast in national and regional dailies (Bengali/English) and electronic media from August 1, 2007 to September 30 this year, will be eligible for the entry to the awards.
The last date of the submission is October 2.
The best entries from print and electronic media (TV) will receive Tk 50,000 while the second best will get Tk 30,000. The best entries from radio will receive Tk 30,000.
A special award valued at Tk 20,000 will also be considered for dailies published outside of Dhaka (English or Bengali). The detail conditions and modalities of the award are available at www.wfp.org/bangladesh .
Entries must be from professional journalists working for accredited news agencies, print or electronic media and published in accredited print or electronic media.
Entries (stories, articles, news) must be submitted to the WFP representative along with two passports-size photos. A maximum of four entries will be entertained from any individual or institution.
