18 Indians freed at last
The 18 Indian nationals, who spent four years in jail, were handed over to the Indian Border Security Force on Saturday evening.
BDR and Police contingents handed them over to the BSF at Singichhara border of Indian state of Tripura, officials said.
Additional District and Sessions Judge-III, Habiganj-Momtaj Begum, also special tribunal, in her judgment in two cases passed on November 18 last year acquitted all the 18 Indians due to the absence of sufficient proofs.
But their release from Habiganj district jail was delayed due to absence of necessary permission from the concerned authorities including the Indian side.
The 18 are Bimal Dev Barma, Bodiram, Dibesh Dev Barma, Rakesh Dev Barma, Mangal Dev Barma, Hosindar Dev Barma, Sori Dev Barma, Bokal Dev Barma, Balendra Dev Barma, Yasaf Dev Barma, Bakhor Dev Barma, Somena Dev Barma, Baithan Tripura, Gajor Dev Barma, Bimol Dev Barma (2), Paul Dev Barma, Khaloke Dev Barma and Pirnai Dev Barma.
