Youth held for distributing illegal leaflets
Police arrested a youth on Monday night while he was distributing leaflets against a powder milk importer of Chawk Bazar area in the city.
The youth was identified as Mohammad Shaheen, 17, a worker of a chocolate factory in the old part of the city.
Lalbagh police said they arrested Shaheen with around 20 leaflets in front of Chawk Bazar Shahi Mosque while he was distributing them among the people at around 9:00pm.
Quoting the arrestee, Sub-Inspector (SI) Shahjahan Ali of Lalbagh Police Station said another youth Sumon, a worker of another powder milk importer, gave him the leaflets, but he could not give the full address of the latter, he added.
Police said during the distribution, Shaheen was announcing: “Be aware Muslim brothers, horse milk powder is being sold in Bangladesh.”
The SI said picture of milking process from a horse's udder with the photocopy of a newspaper clipping 'New Zealand Dairy Products Bangladesh Ltd is the importer of the horse milk' was attached to the leaflet.
New Zealand Dairy Products Bangladesh Ltd Manager Shahriar Rana filed a general diary with Lalbagh Police Station in this connection.
