57pc pass in degree exams '07

National University (NU) yesterday published the results of its degree pass, subsidiary and certificate examinations of the year 2007.
The overall pass rate of the exams is 56.99 percent.
A total of 2.24 lakh candidates from 1,380 colleges around the country sat for the three-year degree (pass) examinations of 2007 out of which 1.84 lakh examinees passed successfully, a NU press release said yesterday.
Vice-chancellor of the university Professor Dr M Mufakharul Islam officially announced the results at the NU conference room in Gazipur.
The highest pass rate is in the Bachelor of Science (BSc) exams with 73.30 percent of the students coming out successful. This is followed by the Bachelor of Commerce (B Com) with 63.70 percent, Bachelor of Social Science (BSS) with 59.25 percent, Bachelor of Arts (BA) with 53.22 percent and the Bachelor of Music (B Music) with a 32 percent pass rate.
The Bachelor of Sports (B.Sports) has a 27.78 percent pass rate.
In the BSc exams, 357 secured first class, 1,795 second class and 226 third class out of 5,816 candidates.
In the B.com exams, 391 students obtained first class, 6,765 second class and 2,132 third class out of the 14,580 who appeared at the exams.
In the BSS exams, 95 students obtained first class, 2,705 second class and 646 third class out of a total of 5,816 examinees.
In the BA exams, 771 students secured first class, 18,646 second class and 3,682 third class out of the 43,402 candidates who took the exams.
In the B Music exams, 20 examinees passed out of the 35 who sat for the exams.
The results have already been sent to all NU affiliated colleges. They are also available on the NU website www.nu.edu.bd and www.nuresults.net .
The results are also available through the SMS service of all mobile phone networks in the country. To use this service, one should type nudegroll number and send the message to 4636 from any mobile network.
