Call to publish white paper on graft
Leaders of Democratic Left Alliance yesterday called on the government to publish a White Paper on corruption during the last 38 years in the country and demanded punishment to the top corrupt suspects.
They strongly criticised the caretaker government for the release of detained top corrupts through secret deals.
Expressing deep concern, they said, “We have observed that the government is releasing the corrupts one after another without completing their trial which is really regrettable.”
The leaders said this at a meeting at the office of Bangladesh Samajtantrik Dal at Topkhana Road in the city with Coordinator of the alliance advocate Abdus Salam in the chair.
Terming the present activities anti-people, they called on the countrymen to be united against the government.
They further said people expected that the government would be neutral but its present activities prove that they are not exceptional than the previous political government.
The leaders said soon after assuming the power, the government high-ups and the army chief also announced that they would repatriate the siphoned-off money around Tk 20,000 crore but they are yet to do it.
Samajtantrik Dal Convener comrade Khalequzzaman, Tipu Biswas, Saiful Haque, Badrul Alam, Hamidul Haque, Jonayed Saki, Abdul Matin Talukdar, Babul Biswas, Moshrefa Mishu and Bazlur Rashid Firoz also spoke.
