Inter-school debate begins in Rajshahi

A 21-day Rajshahi City Inter-School Debate Competition began at the Rajshahi Public Library auditorium on Monday.
Rajshahi District Administration organised the competition for the first time in Rajshahi to help flourish latent talents of the debaters at school level.
Rajshahi District Commissioner (DC) Muhammad Ibrahim Khalil inaugurated the competition as the chief guest.
Additional DC (education) Satyandra Kumar Sarker, Rajshahi Education Officer Sadhan Kumar Biswas, Principal of Rajshahi Government Laboratory High School Mustak Habib, Govt PN Girls' School Principal Sharmin Ferdousi Chowdhury, educationist Dr Tashikul Islam Raja, Advocate Mohsin Khan, Assistant Commissioner Shahana Akter and Monwar Hossain also spoke at the inaugural ceremony.
The speakers called upon the debaters to inspire people with the spirit of the liberation war to fight injustice, repression and corruption.
They also called upon the students to refrain themselves from corruption and help uproot the seed of graft from everyone's mind.
A total of 13 schools are participating in the debate competition.
They are Rajshahi Cantonment Board High School, River View High School, Hamidpur Nawdapara Pilot High School, Rajshahi Govt Madrasa, Agrani High School, Govt Girls' High School, Govt Laboratory High School, Rajshahi Collegiate School, Rajshahi Ideal School, Sabitri Girls' School, Siroil Govt High School, Govt PN Girls' School and BB Hindu Academy.
