Nat'l film awards for last four yrs announced
The government has decided to provide national film awards in 27 categories for the last four years (2004-2007) for smooth growth of the film industry as well as to inspire the creative contributors of this sector.
The decision was made following the recommendations of the 11-member jury board headed by information secretary, a PID handout said.
Accordingly, 15 awards will be given in 15 categories for 2004, 13 in 13 categories for 2005, 16 in 15 categories for 2006, and 14 in 14 categories for the year of 2007.
In 2004, the liberation war-related film 'Joyjatra' was selected for award in seven categories -- best director, best producer, best music director, best scriptwriter, best co-actress, best storyteller and best cameraman (colour). Besides, the film 'Shangkhonad' was selected in the categories of best co-actor and best editor.
Also, films Matritto, Bachelor, Lalon, Megher Pore Megh, Duratta and Ek Khando Jomi were nominated for national film awards in one category each for best actor, best actress, best art director, best singer, best child artiste and best makeup man respectively.
In 2005, the film of 'Hazar Bachhor Dhore' was selected in six categories for the national film awards. The categories are best director, best producer, best music director, best storyteller, best cameraman (colour), and best art director while 'Doi Nayoner Alo' was selected in three categories -- best actress, best male singer and best female singer.
In the same year, film 'Shasti' (punishment) was selected for best co-actor and best co-actress while the films 'Laal Saboz' and 'Taka' for best actor and best child artiste.
In 2006, feature film 'Ghani' captured most of the national film awards as it was selected in 12 categories out of 15. Ghani was selected for best director, best producer, best actor, best actress, best co-actor, best co-actress, best music director, best storyteller, best scriptwriter, best dialogue, best cameraman (colour) and best editor. In addition, 'Rani Kuthir Baki Etihaas' was nominated for the categories of best male singer and best female singer.
Besides, Kabliwala was selected for the category of best child artiste in 2006.
In 2007, Daru Chinir Deep was selected for the categories of best producer, best music director, best dance director, best actor, best actress, best co-actor and best scriptwriter while the film 'Aha' was selected for best director, best female singer, best cameraman (colour), and best editor.
Meanwhile, the film 'Saazghar' was nominated for national film awards in three categories -- best composer, best co-actress, and best male singer.
