Two Ctg factory owners fined on charge of adulteration
A mobile court in the port city yesterday fined owners of vermicelli and ghee factories on different charges and destroyed huge quantity of adulterated products at Khatunganj.
The court, led by Executive Magistrate Roksinda Farhana, found that Shikha Traders, a ghee manufacturer in the area, has been manufacturing ghee with used fuel oil of ship and refuse of different medicines and lacks BSTI certificate.
The court destroyed 600kg of adulterated ghee and fined the factory owner Tk 32,000.
Meanwhile, the same court carried out another drive at Gram-Bangla Semai Factory and found time-expired vermicelli, which were covered with spider's net and dusts.
The court destroyed 40 sacks of vermicelli from the factory and fined the factory owner Tk 40,000.
Chittagong Metropolitan Police and BSTI officials assisted the mobile court during the drive.
