Hundreds of workers and staffs of Chittagong City Corporation (CCC) yesterday staged a demonstration and observed work abstention demanding increase in salary, regularisation of jobs and promotion.
They gathered in front of the CCC building at around 9.00am and chanted slogans in support of their demands.
Later, the agitating workers and staffs went back to their works at around 3.30pm following an assurance from the CCC Acting Mayor M Manjur Alam.
CCC Worker-Employee Union President Kazi Abu Toyub said the mayor assured them of taking steps to meet their demands.
