Son-in-law of Justice Fazlul Haq jailed

A special court yesterday sentenced Tariqur Rahman Prince, son-in-law of former adviser to caretaker government Justice Fazlul Haque, to three years' rigorous imprisonment for not submitting wealth statement to the Anti-corruption Commission (ACC) in due time.
Judge Khandaker Kamal Uz-zaman of Special Court-9, set up on the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban premises, also fined him Tk 5 lakh, in default of which he will have to spend three more months in jail.
Since Prince is on the run, the sentence will be effective from the day of his surrender or arrest.

The ACC issued a notice on April 15 this year, asking Prince to submit his wealth statement to the commission within seven working days.
The commission also filed a case against Justice Fazlul on April 13 on charges of amassing wealth illegally and concealing wealth information from the ACC.
