Nari Unnayan Shakti (NUS) has distributed insecticide-treated mosquito nets among the poor people at Hathazari in Chitagong under Malaria Control Programme, says a press release.
The inaugural ceremony of free mosquito net distribution programme was held at Hathazari Upazilla Health Complex on August 8.
Prof Dr Abul Fayez, director general of Health Directorate, attended the inaugural ceremony as the chief guest while Dr Md Rezaul Karim, divisional health director, Chittagong, and Dr Md Jalal Ahmed, civil surgeon of Chittagong district, were present as special guests.
Nari Unnayan Shakti has also distributed 20,000 insecticide-treated mosquito nets in Patia, Hathazari and Fatikchari upazilas. As a result, the prevalence of malaria has declined in these areas.
