Dinesh in solo lead
Indian International Master Dinesh Kumar Sharma took solo lead in the 8th United Insurance & United Leasing International Masters Chess tournament after the end of the eighth round at the federation hall-room yesterday.
Dinesh beat FM Minhazuddin Sagar to improve the tally to 6.5 points while his compatriot International Master Himanshu Sharma followed him with six points. Himanshu drew his board with Pakistan International Master Mahmood Lodhi.
Lodhi stayed in the third spot along with local Grandmaster Ziaur Rahman who beat Bitan Banerjee of India to increase the tally to 5.5 points.
Women FIDE Master Samima Akhter Liza won the third round game in the World Junior Chess Championship in Turkey yesterday.
Liza beat Bosnjak Antonija of Bosnia and Herzegovina to earn one point. Liza lost her first two rounds in the competition.
