Machinery, goods worth Tk 3 cr gutted in Ctg textile mill fire

Goods and machinery worth around Tk 3 crore were gutted in a fire at a textile mill in the port city yesterday.
The fire broke out at spinning unit storehouse of Chin Hung Fibre Ltd, a textile mill of TK Group, in Chandgaon Industrial Area at Kalurghat at about 10:00am, fire service and civil defence sources said.
Six fire fighting units from different fire service stations in the city rushed to the spot immediately and were busy extinguishing the blaze till the filing of this report at about 7:00pm.
Cotton, fibre and machinery were reduced to ashes in the fire that originated from electric short circuit.
Around 1,900 bales of cotton were at the storehouse when the fire broke out. The losses caused by the fire were primarily estimated to be Tk 3 crore, the sources said.
