Samudra Gupta continues to be remembered

Sundarban Nandini, a cultural organisation, arranged a meeting recently in memory of poet Samudra Gupta. The function was held at Satkhira Unnayan Kendra in the town, with poet Saleha Akhtar in the chair.
The memorial meeting began with the recitation of a poem written by the late poet. The poem, on Bangladesh's Liberation War, was recited by Salma Nur E Jahan Brishti.
Satkhira Government College vice- principal, Professor. Abdul Hamid was the chief guest. The meeting was addressed by Monmoy Manir, Paltu Bashar, Gazi Shajahan Siraj, Narendra Sugandha, Maniruzzaman Munna, Tripti Mohon Mallik, Sayem Ferdous Mitul, Nishikanto Bannerjee, Sirajur Rahman and M Zaman, Sudhangsu Sekhar Sarkar, Satkhira Mahila Parishad general secretary Trishna Chakraborty, among others.
Paying homage to Samudra Gupta, the speakers asserted that he is one of the best poets in the country and has made a major contribution to Bangladesh's literature. In addition, they maintained that the late poet will remain in the public memory and inspire his countrymen to speak out against injustice.
